Tiger: The Apex Predator of Wetlands

Tigers are powerful, solitary hunters and apex predators that thrive in a variety of habitats, including wetlands and mangrove forests. The Bengal tiger, in particular, is known for its ability to adapt to the tidal ecosystems of the Sundarbans, where it hunts axis deer, wild boars, and fish.

Tigers rely on their stealth and immense strength to ambush prey, often dragging their kills to secluded spots to feed undisturbed. In wetlands, they use water channels to navigate their territory, displaying impressive swimming abilities. Tigers also play a critical role in maintaining the balance of their ecosystems by controlling herbivore populations.

However, habitat loss, poaching, and climate change threaten tiger populations worldwide. Conservation programs, including protected reserves and anti-poaching initiatives, are essential to safeguard these iconic big cats and their environments.
